10 Things WWE Actually Got Right In 2020

8. Refocusing On Sami Zayn

It would've been easy for WWE to move on from Sami Zayn.

Zayn stopped working dates due to the ongoing pandemic in May, and didn't return to action until late-August. By then, the company had crowned AJ Styles and then Jeff Hardy as replacement champs - that's something the charismatic Sami complained about when he launched a comeback.

Rather than jobbing Zayn out to AJ or Hardy, WWE had him win a seriously great three-way ladder bout at Clash Of Champions. In other words, they shone the spotlight right back on someone who had been killing it before COVID-related concerns got in the way. It was the best possible decision for the title and SmackDown as a whole.

Sami is so entertaining as IC Champ that it would've been a real shame to see him shunted to the back of the line. Now, when the time is right, he can help anoint Big E as the brand's future, or trade the belt with fellow-workhorse Daniel Bryan. That's win-win.
