10 Things WWE Actually Got Right This Week

7. Keeping The Belts On Baszler, The Undisputed Era

With NXT going head to head with AEW Dynamite it was time to pull out all of the stops on Wednesday. The C show needed to deliver an A grade episode of television.

Understandably, they elected to make the episode something of a mini-TakeOver with three big title matches on the card. It must have been tempting to deliver a title change, perhaps create some social media buzz and persuade people to hop channels. WWE deserve credit for resisting that urge and keeping the belts where they are.

Unlike poor Kofi, Shayna Baszler and The Undisputed Era are the right choices to lead their brand into its new era.

‘The Queen of Spades’ is a great dominant heel champion and there are plenty of stories, including a rematch with Rhea Ripley, still on the table. Candice LeRae will get her moment but this wasn’t it.

The Undisputed Era meanwhile are four of NXT’s most talented performers. With new threats emerging for Adam Cole, it should be hugely entertaining to watch him and his band of d*ckheads cling onto the gold by any means necessary. Hopefully they’ll be front and centre of the show for months to come.
