6. Letting The Fight Continue

Fans of NXT will not have been surprised that The Street Profits and The Undisputed Era delivered in their main event match on Wednesday. With AEW promising a focus on tag team wrestling, NXT were smart to deliver two of their own best tandems in a prominent role.

Even smarter was their arrangement for the match to continue, overrunning the show’s usual two-hour timeslot. This meant that even those who stuck like glue to the two hours of AEW’s TV debut were able to get a live taste of what NXT could deliver. It also meant that they would see Tommaso Ciampa’s return to the Black and Gold Brand, confronting Adam Cole.

It was a sneaky trick but like the much vaunted “limited commercial interruptions” it was a clever way to get one over on the competition as WWE continue to bring the fight to their new rivals.
