10 Things WWE Actually Got Right This Week

5. Sparing Use Of Legends

Dont listen to what AJ Styles used to tell you. SmackDown will forever be the house that The Rock built. It was great to see him back on Friday night but it was also great to see WWE legends used sparingly.

It was fun to see big names in the crowds, with The Outsiders Kevin Nash and Scott Hall waving on NXT a particularly neat touch, but it was even better that none of them overwhelmed the shows. With so much to fit in, WWE chose, correctly, to focus on the talent that will be there every week instead of the old guard who had dropped by. In fact, the Legends helped elevate the current roster. Becky Lynch looked cooler than she has in ages next to the ‘The Great One’. Mark Henry and Goldberg sold Brock Lesnar’s shock victory.

Yes, Hogan and Flair were used to pop a rating and it worked. At least they were also using the segment to build to a match, rather than just giving us a nostalgia hit.
