10 Things WWE Are Getting Absolutely Right

It's not all doom and gloom in the WWE Universe.

It's easy to be critical about the current WWE product. The company don't always make it straightforward for fans to appreciate what they do, and with angles like Jason Jordan's singles run and the Enzo Amore/Big Cass feud, their recent creative direction has received plenty of scorn

WWE, like any other entity that produce work for public consumption, deserve to be taken to task when they do something wrong, but the criticism often goes way too far. We're all guilty of it. Sometimes, we get too caught up in our indignation at what the company have done wrong to appreciate the good things they bring to the table, and that's a shame.

Raw and SmackDown are variety shows. They're trying to appeal to a wide array of consumers with vastly differing wants and needs at once, so there'll always be highs and lows. The flaws should be highlighted, but they shouldn't ever eclipse the things WWE do well, of which there are many.

With that in mind, let's distance ourselves from the negativity, take a step back, and shine a light on some of the many things WWE are absolutely nailing at the moment.

10. The Drifter

Few wrestlers are capable of drawing genuine heel heat these days. Crowd dynamics have changed immensely over the past few years, and fans are going to root for the performers they find the most entertaining, regardless of their alignment. Villains like Kevin Owens are often among the company's most vociferously cheered competitors, while major babyfaces are regularly jeered.

Elias is one of the few exceptions. He's a bad guy who knows how to make you loathe him, and while his gimmick's shelf life is questionable, WWE are doing a great job with him at the moment.

Crowds boo the bejesus out of 'The Drifter' as soon his he strums his first chord, and his in-ring busking sessions always accomplish what they're supposed to. He's not the most charismatic guy, but his songs get a reaction, and he's a better wrestler than many give him credit for. Elias is a workmanlike grappler, but that's all he needs to be on the midcard, where he'll likely remain for the duration of his run.

He'll never set the world alight, but while his peers are getting cheered, 'The Drifter' is doing what every heel's supposed to do: draw heat.
