10 Things WWE Are Struggling To Get Over Right Now
2. The Cruiserweight Division
205 Live hasn't been all that bad in 2017. Neville is one of the most consistently enjoyable performers in the company, his title programs are always solid, and his 'King Of The Cruiserweights' character has been a revelation. Beneath him are guys like Akira Tozawa, Mustafa Ali, and Gran Metalik: wrestlers who aren't always allowed to shine, but rarely disappoint when given an opportunity.
Despite this, WWE have completely failed to generate interest for their lowliest brand. It regularly finishes embarrassingly low on the Network's weekly 'Most Watched' charts, and although Neville & co. are putting forth some of their careers' best work, they're doing it to deaf ears. 205's crowds are easily the company's quietest, and seeing these talented performances dying a death before audiences who couldn't care less is painful.
The blame lies entirely in the company's hands. The cruiserweight division's lack of focus, promotion, and unique selling points is on them, and while Enzo Amore's arrival will add personality, it'll detract from the in-ring side. At this stage, it might be better for WWE to just scrap the whole thing and spread the wrestlers around Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, rather than persisting with this hopeless charade.
