10 Things WWE Could Learn From Lucha Underground
5. Less Is More
Maybe once a year, maybe twice in a good year, I find myself wishing Raw had gone on a bit longer. This hasn’t happened with SmackDown in over a decade. A good show should leave you wanting more. At the end of every episode of Game of Thrones, I want to jump into the next one immediately. Lucha Underground often leaves me feeling this way as well.
Now, WWE isn’t going to go to one hour a week like Lucha, but they should at least get rid of one hour of Raw. It would be in the company’s best long-term interest to not continue to water down their product. As we’ve seen, hundreds of thousands of fans have just quit watching Raw altogether since the third hour was introduced.
Yes, the company will lose out on some advertising money in the short-term. But it’s better to deliver fans a good two hour show every week than a mediocre-to-poor three hour show filled with meaningless matches, extended recaps and extra long matches every week.
