10 Things WWE Fans Expected To Have Seen By Now
3. A John Cena Heel Turn
Open up any pro wrestling-related forum online, and prepare to be met with thread after thread bemoaning the lack of a John Cena heel turn.
Some wrestling enthusiasts are obsessed by the idea, feeling it'd be literal money in the bank for WWE should they turn Cena rogue and feud him against guys like The Undertaker.
Thus far, WWE and Cena himself have resisted. Others argue that such a turn would be pointless, the wrestler is already treated like a villain by a section of the core audience.
Looking like muscled-up adult version of the kids who wear his merchandise, Cena is reviled by some older fans who believe he is too cartoon-like to be credible.
Regardless of any lack of genuine need, it is stunning that John Cena has been babyface - technically - for well over a decade. Even top names like Steve Austin and The Rock have turned heel occasionally, and they were rarely met with the derision Cena is.
A Cena heel turn is definitely something many felt would have happened long before now.
