In this fan's humble opinion, Abyss was at his best when hardcore shortcuts were used to enhance the fact that hey, this big dude in the mask could work. Some may have enjoyed his later years, but there's something to be said for the period Abyss spent working guys like AJ Styles.

It shouldn't surprise any modern WWE fan to hear that AJ's matches with a deceptively agile monster who could bump his ass off ruled.

For a perfect example of how quick Abyss could move, check out the pair's stunning Steel Cage effort from the all-caged LockDown 2005 pay-per-view. That, more so than anything else on the card, made the six-sided cage gimmick soar, and it remains one of Impact's best-ever bouts.

Before going any further, give this a watch. It's a true hidden gem.
