Independent wrestling company EVOLVE has become one of the most talked-about promotions in the U.S., given its recent association with WWE. Stars like Johnny Gargano, Zack Sabre Jr., Drew Gulak, TJP, and more competed in NXT and the Cruiserweight Classic while still working for EVOLVE, and the relationship benefited both companies.

Early on, though, EVOLVE didn't have the luxury of that sort of attention - it was just an independent company looking to make a name for itself. Thankfully, EVOLVE founder and former ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky had no shortage of talent from which to draw, so even the very first show in EVOLVE history (held January 16, 2010) had a stacked card - the main event saw Davey Richards beat Kota Ibushi.

As for the opening contest, though - the very first match in EVOLVE history? That saw Bobby Fish in action, finding himself on the losing end of a bout with future partner Kyle O'Reilly. Despite becoming EVOLVE's very first loser, though, Fish would work his way up the card, facing Bryan Danielson in the main event of the company's fourth show.
