10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Brock Lesnar & John Cena's History

4. The FU Finisher Was Cena's Way Of Countering Lesnar's F5

Brock Lesnar's finisher is the F5. The reason for that is because a F5 is another name for a tornado wind category. Lesnar's finisher involves him putting his opponent on his shoulders, then spinning them off and sending them crashing to the mat. It has nothing to do with the fact that the F5 button on your keyboard will refresh your computer screen. It's a cool name for a move as long as you know what a F5 is. When Cena started to make a name for himself on the main roster it was when he was a cocky heel that would rap his way to the ring. His raps usually involved insults for his opponent. Around the time he was feuding with Lesnar he named his finishing move the FU as a counter to Lesnar's F5. That's FU as in "Eff-You" meaning "f**k you" although they never really said it that aggressively. They just assumed people knew what it meant. It's been his finisher for over a decade now. It's the same finishing move that Cena uses today. Since the move was named the FU in 2003 when WWE was a TV14 company the name was fine. However, once they went PG in 2008 they had to change the name and that's why it became the Attitude Adjustment.
