Cain learned from his own family striving through adversity during his childhood that hard graft pays off, and as such he stopped at nothing to fulfill his MMA ambitions. Whilst working as a bouncer in a San Jose bar, the budding bruiser would often bin off the excruciating two hour drive home before returning next morning to go train at a nearby gym, and instead simply sleep in his car.

When he arrived back next day, somewhat bedraggled and with a distinct car seat pattern indented on his t-shirt, he'd cheekily lie to his mum that he'd spent the night at his coaches' house. She probably forgave him the minor mendacity given the rewards he eventually reaped through such commitment.
