In February 2017, Green's Laurel Van Ness character was stood up at the alter by Braxton Sutter in favour of another woman. When she returned from a brief sabbatical, Van Ness has changed into a crazed and jilted lover who couldn't come to terms with her big day being ruined.

Suddenly, she had make-up all over her face, competed in her spoiled wedding dress and carried a trusty bottle of wine to ringside with her. The entire concept was her idea from the start, and it enabled her to show she could do more than play wrestling bitch 101 for the remainder of the run.

Impact loved it.

Green told VICE she developed the idea quickly. To her, it was a natural progression for someone so wrapped up in themselves to lose their mind ones things spiralled out of their control. Playing the psychotic gimmick gave Chelsea new life as a performer.
