10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Jay White

4. Before FinJuice, There Was FinJay

NJPW

One of the most popular tag teams in NJPW today, David Finlay and Juice Robinson seem to have been tied at the hip for years now. FinJuice has blossomed from plucky young lions to NJPW World Tag League winners and former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. It really is quite the story for a former NXT reject and Finlay's little boy.

Finlay and Juice may come hand in hand today, but it was actually Jay White who first joined young David on the NJPW merry-go-round. Finlay and White were a part of the same young lion class (alongside SHO and YO initially), partnering each other often and occasionally doing battle in show openers, For the record, Finlay won the first singles match before White went on a run of nine consecutive wins, a number that rose to 10 when White defended the IWGP United States Championship against Finlay at a show in 2018.

Is there a parallel world out there where Switchblade David Finlay is turning heads in main events while Jay White struggles to find his rightful place in the New Japan roster? No, obviously, but the two careers make for interesting reading.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
