3. An Honorary Machine Gun

Jay White's career may have been closely tied to Bullet Club, but the fabled faction isn't the only constant presence in Switchblade's pro wrestling career. From his first New Japan match until the birth of Switchblade, you'll find the Motor City Machine Guns at every step.

Alex Shelley, to be more precise. It was Shelley who gave White his first defeat in NJPW but there was more to the match than a simple veteran beating a young lion. White was lucky in that Shelley was willing to go further than most to give his rookie opponent more offence than the occasional shoulder tackle and hopeless Boston crab spot. White and Shelley put on a quiet banger, and heads were turned immediately.

Jay eventually went on his excursion to ROH, where he spent time living with Shelley. The two were united on ROH TV alongside Chris Sabin and Jonathan Gresham in the stable Search and Destroy, a short-lived group that didn't do a whole lot outside of cap-off White's run in Ring Of Honor.

To this day, Jay White is still waiting for his first win over Alex Shelley, or Chris Sabin for that matter. One for the future?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
