My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding and its UK predecessor - simply titled My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding - have courted plentiful controversy over the years, both from the cultures highlighted in these shows and from the audiences who have seen either of these series.

For the US iteration of this premise, the spotlight was on Romani-Americans and their marriage customs. And having Romani-American roots, a young Priscilla Kelly actually found herself taking centre-stage in an episode that was labelled '14 and Looking for Mr Right'.

That episode was just the second-ever episode of My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding, and the synopsis for that offering reads:

"Priscilla, a 14-year-old gypsy girl, is a fully trained gypsy wife. Now all she needs is a husband... Priscilla's family spends big money on a Sondra Celli dress in the hopes to find a suitable gypsy bachelor."

The details of this episode very much fit the general premise of My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding, and plentiful other offerings seemed to follow a similar story. But for Priscilla Kelly, what we saw on that particular episode wasn't exactly 100% truthful - as is so often the case with reality TV.
