10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About War Games
8. Sting Has The Most WarGames Wins
As much as Dusty Rhodes must have loved coming out on the winning end during WarGames, he doesn't quite hold as many wins as fellow babyface Sting. Working his first double cage match in 1988, Sting went on to amass 15 wins in the match, his last coming at Fall Brawl 1995 as part of The Hulkamaniacs team.
Sting did lose a few WarGames matches too, but he holds the record for the most wins. That shouldn't come as much of a surprise to any close follower of the NWA/WCW, because Sting's rise as a main event star coincided with the use of WarGames on pay-per-view. Still, it is slight shocking to discover that he has more wins than Dusty.
Seeing Sting in a WWE version of the match would have been fun. It isn't to be, though; he has since retired from the ring after only two matches under the WWE banner. If only the company had been able to produce WarGames as part of the WCW 'Invasion' angle.
There's a sobering thought.
