How were Randy Orton and Rusev supposed to follow that match? They couldn’t. Randy Orton may well go down in history as the most consistently boring major player in modern professional wrestling. The 'Viper' needs to either turn heel or ease into retirement, as nobody wants to see him walking through 12 minute pay-per-view matches anymore.

This was the best of the three matches between these two, although the brevity of the previous bouts made that obvious from the get-go. This was a television match on a pay-per-view, but there happened to be a single moment of uniqueness in a sea of mediocrity.

As with most Randy Orton matches today, the finish was the real highpoint. Orton began his usual pre-RKO mat-pounding, only for the Bulgarian Brute to grasp 'The Viper’s hands and transition into the Accolade. The 'Apex Predator' was able to escape before the move could be locked on though, spinning Handsome Rusev round into a huge RKO.

The finish was unique and creative - attributes missing from the feud as a whole.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
