10 Things WWE Got Wrong At No Mercy 2017

8. Man To Man?

Finn Bálor and Bray Wyatt did battle once again, in a match that was billed as ‘Man-to-Man'. Has there ever been a more ridiculous hype tagline for a match? This entire feud has been a mess from start to finish, and what was seemingly the pay-off was no different. A man vs. man match? Two men having a wrestling match? That is a selling point?

The match itself was actually pretty good. Bálor is an elite-level pro wrestler, and Bray Wyatt has shown on a number of occasions that with the right opponent he can have excellent bouts. This was far and away the best of their three matches from a purely in-ring point of view.

There were just too many embarrassing story moments for this to be anything other than a frustrating disappointment. The announce team continually rammed the ‘man’ aspect of it all down the throats of the audience too, which certainly did not help.

Finn Bálor’s 'Demon' was another character that seemed like a true ‘can’t fail' - WWE is in danger of missing this most open of goals.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
