2. Not Giving Finality To The Ambrose / Rollins Feud
It is odd that such a great main event would have two things listed in what the WWE did wrong at Hell In A Cell 2014, but that is the case for Rollins and Ambrose. It's easy to be critical of certain things in this match because we're expecting the world out of two of its most young and promising superstars. In this case, neither entry into this list has anything to do with either Ambrose or Rollins. The previous entry dealt with the timing of things after the big bump the two took, and this entry talks about the creative end to the match. We have been seeing vignettes of Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, and Luke Harper for weeks now, but most were surprised that Wyatt would make an appearance in the main event of Hell In A Cell to make it clear that his next target is Dean Ambrose. The lights going out, the speaking in tongues, and the hologram in the lantern were really cool, but it was just the wrong time for it. Typically Hell In A Cell matches are for the end of a feud. The final nail in the coffin so to speak. The feud between Ambrose and Rollins has gone on for nearly five months now, and is definitely a contender for feud of the year. A 20-30 minute cell match would have been a great final chapter to the first of many feuds between these two; however, the interference by Bray Wyatt takes away from that closure. Now if Rollins becomes champion after cashing in his Money In The Bank Contract, and Ambrose wins the Rumble, then Wrestlemania will be a great spot to end the feud. If that is not the intended payoff, then the timing was completely wrong for Wyatt here.
