10 Things WWE Has Forgotten How To Do

7. Promote Pay-Per-Views Effectively

Speaking of effective promotion, it's been an issue since the launch of the WWE Network when it comes to pay-per-view events.

The company don't live and die by their monthly supershows now, and that fact has changed the way they approach television. Programs like Raw and SmackDown still exist to further angles leading to blowoff matches, but promotion isn't quite as ferocious as it used to be.

On one hand, it's hardly a negative for wrestling fans that the Network offers all-inclusive access to shows people previously had to pay for. The viewer wins there, but it's interesting to see how WWE's mindset has shifted, certainly on 'B' shows like Fastlane, Payback and the like.

More than ever, the pay-per-views feel like episodes of Monday Night Raw without as many speaking segments. Fans can see largely the same quality of matches on the flagship broadcast as they can on pay-per-view, which isn't always the way WWE did things.

Today, pay-per-views aren't as unmissable as they once were.
