10 Things WWE Could Learn From The Marvel Universe

2. Respecting Their Fans

WWE staff and personnel will often talk about the importance of WWE fans and how everything that WWE does on television is for them. Vince McMahon recently told Steve Austin during their WWE Network podcast special that he doesn't listen to critics because he has thousands of critics every night in the arenas that WWE superstars perform in. But how many of us actually believe that? It's true that WWE does, to an extent, accommodate and appreciate their fans. Of course they do. You cannot discount the times that WWE have disrespected their own fans, however. Vince McMahon really believes that his vision, which many fans have grown tired of and stopped watching, is the way wrestling is supposed to be. WWE clearly doesn't always listen to their fans. Just look at last year's Royal Rumble match, where fans were dying to see Daniel Bryan enter and possibly win before going on to main event WrestleMania. Bryan wasn't even entered into the match and instead the victory was given to returning part-timer and new movie star Batista. According to CM Punk (who left because he was so sick of WWE) Vince McMahon genuinely believed that Batista versus Randy Orton would be the biggest WrestleMania match of all time. Marvel, on the other hand, clearly respect their fans. Comic books fans, like wrestling fans, are very loyal and that loyalty clearly means a lot to Marvel who listen when fans tell them that they're doing something wrong. When there was outcry over the reveal of the 'Mandarin' at the end of Iron Man 3, Marvel shot the short film All Hail The King in part to further explain it. WWE should look at the example set by Marvel and start treating their audience with a little bit more respect.
