10 Things WWE Could Learn From The Marvel Universe

1. Storytelling

Although there may be some convoluted jargon about secret societies or some scientific mumbo jumbo here or there, the plots of Marvel films are usually very simple when you break them down. They are, essentially, good versus evil. Good superhero(s) against evil villain(s). A basic idea, but one that is tried and tested. It used to be the same in WWE, too. You'd have a heroic babyface and an evil heel, there would be an issue that caused them to hate each other and, after weeks or months of confrontations, they would fight. A simple, guaranteed way to make money when done correctly. Somewhere along the line things changed and fans got bored of the valiant babyface act, with antiheroes seeming cooler/less lame. Fanboys might enjoy analysing the details and hunting for easter eggs in Marvel Films, but for the average movie-goer or comic book reader, they just want to be told an old-fashioned, dependable good versus evil story. Most wrestling fans are the same, they don't want inside references and constant swerve turns. WWE could take a page out of Marvel's (comic) book and return to the basic storytelling that doesn't need an entire team of failed Hollywood writers to hash out. With WrestleMania on the horizon, a good, solid hated heel versus loved babyface could be what WWE needs to headline the supershow on March 29th.
