10 Things WWE Could Learn From The Marvel Universe
5. Costumes & Gimmicks
In wrestling half the battle is trying to stand out from the pack. The WWE has a stacked roster full of performers who are all vying for the tops spots but to get there you need to have something that makes you unique and different from all the others. One way that WWE superstars can help themselves stand out is with their look. True, the plain tights and boots look has been adopted by some of the biggest-drawing wrestlers of all time, but times are changing and there are a lot more options when it comes to ring gear. Rey Mysterio is a prime example of somebody bringing a unique look to the company: when he debuted for WWE in 2002 nobody had really had a look like Mysterio's with the tattoos, mask and baggy pants. What did Mysterio's look remind you of? Well, it was quite similar to that of a Marvel super-hero's. Mysterio has paid homage to Spider-Man, Daredevil, The Flash, Iron Man, Captain America, The Silver Surfer and many other comic book characters over the years. Comic book characters stand out with their colourful costumes and perhaps some members of the WWE roster could look to them for inspiration. Seth Rollins' current get-up is clearly designed to look like a super villain's and, wouldn't you know it, it has helped him stand out from the pack. A superhero gimmick, if done seriously and correctly, could also prove to be incredibly popular. Somebody like Adrian Neville (who has been rumoured to be in like for a Mighty Mouse gimmick) would be a perfect candidate for this, with his chiseled physique and incredible aerial ability.
