10 Things WWE Could Learn From The Marvel Universe

4. Hyping The Future

You can't exactly accuse WWE of taking it easy on the hype. Wrestling is such an over-the-top business that anything other than outright hyperbole just seems out of place. But WWE is selective with what it chooses to hype a lot of the time and they haven't done the best job of hyping the future of the business in recent years. Never is this more apparent than during WrestleMania season when WWE wheels out the part-timers and special guests who only wrestle once a year but receive the lion's share of the hype and promotion. Daniel Bryan was the undisputed star of WrestleMania XXX in 2014 but did he receive the same amount of promotion that The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Triple H and The Rock have received in recent years? Probably not. It's hard to get excited about anything other than WrestleMania for a lot of fans (a lot of them lapsed) because WWE has done such a poor job of hyping anyone other than the John Cena's and Randy Orton's of the world. Marvel, meanwhile, have got fans chomping at the bit for films and comics that aren't even coming out for several years. During their Phase 3 event back in October 2014, Marvel outlined their plans for the next few years and did a great job of hyping up films for marginal characters like Black Panther and Doctor Strange. WWE should be devoting more time to promoting the guys and girls who are going to be carrying the company in years to come. They're already trying this a little bit with Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Rusev and Dean Ambrose but they could be doing a lot more.
