10 Things WWE Need To Bring Back

5. Championship Belt Variety

In recent years WWE have opted for a harmonizing method in terms of its title belt designs. Since The Rock introduced the current World Championship design in 2013, many fans have had their say formulating arguments for previous designs and alternative designs, some going as far to wonder why WWE don’t utilise their own fan creations from the 2K video games!

There is nothing wrong with the design and as made clear by Seth Rollins after the inaugural Universal Championship match, it shouldn’t be the belt's appearance that matters but what it stands for. Whilst this sentiment is very true, if WWE want to provide a distinction between the brands and the championships then some different designs could be an effective method.

If you break down the reasoning for every World Championship being the same design, it is easy to accept, but many fans still can’t deny a niggling feeling. As fans we like variety, we like to buy replicas, give our guys and girls the belts in video games, and buy the toys.

When WWE last initiated a brand split, they were headlined by the “Big old” World Heavyweight belt and the old “Undisputed” design. On top of this, we had two separate tag team designs and the introduction of the United States Championship. Fans who remember this era argue that the recent influx of belts has been lazy, with simple colour swaps making the championships feel more like props than prestigious new commodities in the world of wrestling.
