10 Things WWE Need To Get Right On The Road To WrestleMania

8. Redefine The Battle Royal

The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal was introduced at last year€™s WrestleMania, and served two purposes. Firstly, it honoured the legacy of the once-in-a-lifetime performer, and secondly an annual battle royal is an excellent way to get as many people onto the WrestleMania card as possible. Last year€™s battle royal was won by Cesaro, who bodyslammed The Big Show right over the top rope, in a herculean feat similar to Hulk Hogan€™s legendary slamming of Andre himself at WrestleMania III. While many fans saw big things in Cesaro€™s future, it was all downhill from there and it€™s taken the Swiss Superman nearly a year to recover his momentum. For the match to mean anything in the larger context of the WWE, it needs to mean something and fans need a reason why everyone wants to win. All WWE needs to do is simply add some sort of reward other than the comically oversized trophy to give wrestlers an in-story reason to win, and to give fans a reason to care. If the victor of the match were to receive a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match, or even something as vague as one request granted by The Authority, it would add higher stakes to the match and make it something worth investing in. Last year, WWE dropped the ball following the battle royal, so hopefully they€™ve learnt their lesson heading into this year€™s WrestleMania.
