10 Things WWE Needs To Bring Back
4. King Of The Ring
From one of the big five pay-per-views to an occasional Raw special to nonexistent, King of the Ring might be one of the most underappreciated WWE creations out there.
Originating all the way back in 1985, the tournament was designed around deciding the best professional wrestler on the roster. At its peak, King of the Ring winners were given a world championship opportunity for winning the tournament (though sometimes winners oddly settled for just the stereotypical king gimmick instead).
Anything that can give matches more purpose is a great thing, and that's partially why the tournament style was so perfect, especially for King of the Ring. Each match will eventually lead to something, and as the tournament progresses, the stakes continuously raise higher and higher.
This could seamlessly be brought back nowadays with Raw and SmackDown Live! competing under the same pay-per-views again. Each brand gets a certain number of participants and whoever wins becomes the new number one contender to their side's world championship. It'd be a great way to give the spotlight to the talent lower on the card that aren't already embroiled in a feud or holding a championship, as well as giving another big pay-per-view for everyone to get excited over.
We could forget about the never-ending king gimmicks though...
