10 Things WWE Regrets About SummerSlam

8. Putting The Custody Of A Child On The Line (SummerSlam 2005)

In a move that prime Russo-driven WCW would be proud of, WWE decided that simply having Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio wasn't enough for SummerSlam 2005.

No, that match needed a bit of spice added to it. Spice in the shape of Rey's son Dominick.

A ladder match between Guerrero and Mysterio was a fantastic idea, yet WWE decided to put the custody of Dominick on the line.

For weeks, Latino Heat walked around proclaiming that he was Dominick's "Papi", and the whole feud was a little uncomfortable back then - and even more so in the landscape of 2019.

The fact that WWE put the custody of a child on the line in this match was bad enough, but the match itself turned out to be a major disappointment.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio was always expected to deliver. Throw in a ladder, and fans would rightly be expecting something truly special.

Regrettably, the match itself was simply okay - not helped by Vickie Guerrero being late for a planned run-in - but the biggest regret of all of this is that having the custody of a child up for grabs just wasn't a good look for WWE.
