Since the Elimination Chamber PPV, Alexa Bliss’ SmackDown Women’s Championship has been lost, vacated, and then regained again. This in turn means that since 4 December, there have been four separate title reigns in the space of just 12 weeks.

If that kind of turnover continues, there’s a real risk of devaluing the title.

Granted, there wasn’t much that could be done about Naomi’s recent injury which saw her vacate the title last week. But surely they could’ve hung on to crown a new champion, rather than shoehorning a match into the middle of the card off the back of Daniel Bryan’s spur-of-the-moment decision?

With kneejerk reactions like that, the SmackDown women’s belt is in danger of becoming no different to its counterpart on Raw, which was recently stuck in a months-long game of hot potato between Charlotte and Sasha Banks.

In the interest of calming things down a little and trying to maintain some differentiation from Raw, the title needs to remain on Bliss until WrestleMania, at least—maybe even longer, depending on how Naomi's injury plays out…
