10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Bret Hart

8. He Had A Feud Over A Leather Jacket With A Pirate

Bret was known for wearing a black leather jacket to the ring. It was cool looking with pink stars on it along with some white stripes. Fans recognized it as part of Hart's attire. It fit the persona he was going for as a serious wrestler with the nice jacket and cool shades that he would also wear down to the ring. Since WWE was focusing on building up Diesel as the top face in 1995 (and also building up Shawn Michaels), Hart was forced to work midcard feuds with the likes of Hakushi, Isaac Yankem and this one with Jean Pierre Lafitte. This didn't make the list because it's a bad match. It was actually a really good match because Bret rarely had bad matches. The reason it's here is because they feuded over a jacket. "You stole my jacket. I want it back." "No." "Okay, let's settle it in a match." "Fine." That wasn't the exact dialogue by any means, but it gives you an idea. Instead of simply having a heel attack a face as a way to get them into a match, he stole the jacket. They went on to have the match at the September 1995 In Your House PPV. Bret won clean. He got his jacket back. Lafitte was actually a good worker, but the gimmick of a pirate that steals jackets was pretty lame. At least the match was good. The idea behind the feud was pretty weak.
