10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Christian

2. He Was Brothers With Edge And Then It Just Went Away

If you watched WWE in 1998 when Christian debuted, you know that he showed up for the first time during an Edge match against Owen Hart. From that point on, the two real life best friends were linked together on screen. WWE told its viewers that they were brothers. It was believable because they had the same kind of hair, they were around the same age and they looked the part. When they ascended as the best tag team in the business from 1999 to 2001 they were always called brothers. That brother angle led to Christian turning heel on Edge in 2001 because he was jealous that Edge was more successful than him. Once the brand split happened in 2002 they went their separate ways, so WWE really didn't have to push the brother angle anymore. Following Christian's 2009 return to WWE, their relationship was acknowledged although suddenly they were simply called friends instead of brothers. It was as if WWE wasn't interested in calling them brothers anymore, so they were just going to call them friends and forget about the years they spent telling people they were brothers. There really was no great explanation by WWE as to why they dropped the brother thing although all we can figure is that it was something they wanted to stop doing. It's wrestling. There isn't always a great explanation for these things. What we do know is that WWE wants you to forget about calling Edge and Christian brothers. That's for sure.
