10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Christian

1. His 2009 WWE Return At Royal Rumble Was Changed

"We Want Christian" It wasn't a chant we heard that often and it wasn't acknowledged by the announcers, but that's what the crowd was saying at the beginning of Jeff Hardy's World Title defense against Edge at the 2009 Royal Rumble. The reason they were chanting that is because Christian's run in TNA ended at the end of 2008 and everybody assumed that he would get involved to help his "brother" Edge beat Hardy. There was an easy story in place since Hardy was attacked by somebody a few months earlier at Survivor Series 2008 and we didn't know who it was. Everybody assumed it was going to be Christian due to his history with Edge. It made a lot of sense. Prior to the Rumble PPV, fans online knew that Christian was coming back to WWE. It was also heavily rumored that he would show up to help Edge win the World Title. Instead, Matt Hardy showed up, acted his brother Jeff and Edge left with the World Title. Christian debuted on the ECW brand a month later, which was very underwhelming. It was one of the best ideas for a return that WWE has ever had, but they blew it. The reason plans changed was because it leaked onto the internet and management felt like it was too obvious because of it. If Christian returned during that angle he could have been in a top feud with Jeff Hardy, who was one of the top faces at the time, and also aligned with Edge again. They could have split up to have an epic feud too. Instead, he was put on the dying ECW brand. What a shame. ---- That's it for this week's things WWE wants us to forget series.
