10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Goldust

1. Jerry Lawler Called Him A "Flaming F**" On Raw Because He Kissed Men

"We all saw you out here with tears running down your face wondering why your old man Oldust don't love ya anymore. Well I know Dusty Rhodes and he told me why; it's because you married the biggest gold digger in Georgia, then you put on a woman's wig and you went around the ring kissing men like a flaming f**." - Jerry Lawler It was the May 26, 1997 edition of Raw with Goldust in the babyface role going up against Jerry Lawler. At the time, Lawler was mostly a commentator although they used him as a heel wrestler once in a while. Prior to their match in the King of the Ring tournament, Lawler did that promo where he used a derogatory word to describe Goldust. It wasn't bleeped out even though it's a word that you never hear on television. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aWKM-UZD3E&feature=kp The reason they did it was because Goldust did things like giving CPR to Ahmed Johnson and kissing others during matches. They definitely pushed the boundaries with this character. There was also a time in December of 1996 when Lawler asked Goldust if he was a "queer" and Goldust responded by saying no, followed by a punch to the face. It was part of the Goldust face turn as WWE realized he was gaining popularity by that point. It's not a promo that you would see replayed unedited on WWE TV today and that's not going to change anytime soon considering the offensive word that was uttered.
