10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Jim Ross

2. When He Got Fired In 2013, WWE Said He Retired Instead

Jim Ross didn't want to retire from WWE in 2013. They made him do it. In August 2013 during SummerSlam weekend, Ross was hosting a WWE 2K14 symposium where Ric Flair hijacked things by ranting about certain things and making remarks that upset WWE management. Since Ross was in charge of the event as the host of the show, he took the heat for it. During the symposium, Ross even called the whole thing a "train wreck" and was making plenty of jokes about it. Within a month later, Ross "retired" from WWE. At the time, he really wasn't doing a lot other than working on NXT and some other WWE projects for DVDs. However, he stated in blogs and on Twitter countless times that he wasn't retired. He was just moving on. He expressed interest in doing other work, which showed that he really didn't leave WWE by choice. He was forced out. To this day, WWE must hold some kind of bitterness towards Ross because they don't allow any WWE talents to appear on Jim Ross' podcast. They let WWE talents on the podcasts of Steve Austin and Chris Jericho, but not Ross. At least they still sell his BBQ Sauce on WWEShop.com, so at least they remember him that way. JR is still one of the most beloved employees in WWE history although it appears as though WWE has done everything they can to block him out from our memories. It's a damn shame.
