10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About John Bradshaw Layfield
7. Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw Was Managed By Zeb Colter
When WWE reflects back on the career of JBL, they seem to only mention his run in the APA with Faarooq and obviously the JBL character that he's used since 2004. There's no mention of what he did in his early years in WWE in late 1995 and 1996 as Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw. This was during the period of time when WWE was bringing in all kinds of new talent like Steve Austin, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Mankind, Marc Mero, Rocky Maivia, Faarooq and others. Bradshaw was managed by a guy named Uncle Zebekiah, who was played by Dutch Mantel aka current WWE manager Zeb Colter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v7VXG6Z9xg There wasn't much to the JHB persona. He was just a tough cowboy who wore a leather jacket, carried a rope and had Zebekiah walk him to the ring. He worked a power wrestling style that was pretty generic. Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw didn't last too long and Zebekiah was gone soon after as well. When Colter is at ringside in WWE these days you might hear JBL mention that he's an old friend, but there really isn't much in the way of the details of their relationship or their past working together.
