4. He Always Seems To Put His Dad In Harm's Way
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GETeK8ptPA John Cena's father, also named John Cena, has always been a huge fan of the wrestling business. Cena's spoken about how when he was a kid, he would always watch wrestling with his dad and that's how he became such a fan of the business. Cena's dad also has some experience working in the wrestling business because he's been a part of some independent shows in the Boston area. Most of his work has been as a heel manager. Since WWE is always trying to make Cena a more sympathetic character, they used his dad to tell some stories over the years. Edge went to the home of Cena's dad and
slapped him in the face prior to a SummerSlam matchup between the two stars. The thinking was that the fans would have no reason to boo Cena after a guy like Edge went to his house and beat around his old man. Randy Orton punted Cena's dad while he was seated at ringside (video is above) because Orton didn't care who he punted at that point in his career. Nobody was safe from him. They even
had a match between Orton and Cena's dad on Raw. Most recently,
Orton attacked Cena's dad on the January 13 edition of Raw this year following his loss to Kofi Kingston. Orton was mad about the loss, so he took out his frustrations on the elder Cena. While I am not saying that Cena is a bad son, from the perspective of a TV viewer, he sure does seem to put his dad in precarious positions far too often.
