10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Mark Henry
10. He Was Given The European Title In 1999 Instead Of Winning It
Henry has been a WWE superstar for the past 18 years. He started in 1996 after signing a lucrative contract and he's still there in his early 40s. You would think that a guy that has been there that long would have won a lot of titles in his career, but he really hasn't won a lot. In fact, he only has three title victories to his name. His most important one was the World Title that he won 2011, then there was ECW Title that he won in 2008 and then there's the European Title that was handed to him in the summer of 1999. The European Title really wasn't a necessary title when WWE created it in 1997 and by 1999 it was even more worthless. Henry turned on his partner D-Lo Brown at SummerSlam 1999 to help Jeff Jarrett win the IC & Euro Titles that Brown held. The next night on Raw, Jarrett just handed the European Title to Henry. It was WWE's way of saying that it really didn't mean a whole lot. When a guy is just handed a title it really kills the credibility of his championship reign right away. His reign with the "coveted" title only lasted until the next PPV, Unforgiven, five weeks later when he lost it back to Brown. When WWE rattles off Henry's career accomplishments, they never mention the European Title. That's not an accident.
