10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Mark Henry

8. That Problem With The Cage On Smackdown In 2006

The main event of the January 6, 2006 edition of Smackdown was a Steel Cage Match for the Tag Titles as MNM (Joey Mercury & Johnny Nitro with Melina) defending the gold against the babyface team of Batista & Rey Mysterio. There was also a storyline between Mark Henry and Batista with Melina bringing Henry in to "protect her" from Batista, so the World's Strongest Man decided to make his presence felt that night. If you watched the broadcast then what you saw was Henry go up to the chain that was on the cage door and he rips it off within about 10 seconds. However, what really happened, thanks to leaked footage, was that it took Henry about 90 seconds to get into the cage. The video of Henry being unable to get into the cage has over 3 million views and has led to fans laughing at him about it. http://youtu.be/2m0bAWU4gKk The story about the cage is that it was supposed to be a gimmicked lock that he could easily break, but Henry took matters into his own hands and legitimately ripped through the chain that was locking the cage. If this was a live Raw it would have been really bad television, but they were able to edit it on Smackdown. The footage that found its way onto the internet wasn't supposed to be there, but it's been on the net for over seven years now. A reason that people laughed at Henry for it was because the guys in the ring were just laying there for 90 seconds while Batista looked on. Nobody moved. They had to wait for Henry to go into the ring to attack Batista, so they were just left there looking like dumbasses waiting for this spot to happen. Since WWE edited the 90 seconds of footage down to about 10 seconds, it was obviously something WWE wants us to forget.
