Ric Flair became The Miz' mentor for a brief period in the early part of 2013. It was done because The Miz had become a babyface and they wanted the fans to be more supportive of him. They figured if Flair was out there putting over this guy as a big deal then it would mean something to the fans. Since he was associated with Flair, The Miz started using Flair's signature move, the Figure Four Leglock. The Miz was not known as a submission wrestler. He still isn't. When Flair wrestled, he would always focus on a guy's knee before hitting the Figure Four. When Miz does it, he might attack a guy's leg once and then go for it. He never seemed to grasp the idea that it needs to be worked on a bit more so that it appears to be painful when it is applied. http://youtu.be/cdBaqnnUTtY What's worst of all is that when he does the Figure Four Leglock, often time he messes it up. While it's not an easy move to do, for a professional wrestler it should be. They have years to practice that sort of thing. One of the most famous mistakes was a Raw match against Dolph Ziggler in January of 2013. Miz completely botched it. It's happened more than once too. A few weeks ago, Ziggler put Miz in a Figure Four Leglock and Michael Cole was shouting that it was The Miz' move. No Michael, it's not. It is Ric Flair's move that The Miz has tarnished. If he's smart, he won't use the move again because his inability to do it right is something WWE wants us to forget.
