10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Paul Heyman

6. He Nearly Joined TNA Wrestling In Between WWE Stints

Paul Heyman became a WWE employee in early 2001. He was in the company until December 2006. When he left WWE he did a number of things in the entertainment field and he even had significant discussions with TNA Wrestling. As we all know, he ended up returning to WWE in 2012 as an on air talent. Heyman's talks with TNA Wrestling were said to be significant in 2009 and 2010. Heyman mentioned that he was "very close" to saying yes to going there although they were never able to agree with terms. He reportedly wanted an ownership stake in the company and full control, but they weren't willing to do that. At the time of Heyman's talks with TNA, the company had Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan in positions of power. It appeared as though TNA was interested in bringing him in for some role, but they weren't really willing to hand over the keys to him, so to speak. As we all know, Heyman never went to TNA Wrestling. It would have been very interesting to see what would have happened if he did because he has one of the greatest minds in wrestling history and his presence could have really helped them. Instead, they stuck with Bischoff and Hogan for a few years. When those two didn't work out they made significant cutbacks to the point that they are barely hanging on.
