10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About SummerSlam
5. SummerSlam 1992 Was Actually Taped
SummerSlam was actually shown on Mondays for a few years in the early going and the 1992 event was no different. However, what was different about the 1992 event that took place in Wembley Stadium is that it actually took place on a Saturday. It's one of the few PPVs in WWE history that wasn't live. If you hear WWE talk about their PPVs they will always mention how they are live, exclusively on PPV. It's something we have heard for the past 30 years. They like to drive that point home because it's their way of telling the fans that what they're going to see is happening as they're watching it. When companies tape shows and show them a few days later they don't brag about it being taped. They know the people want live shows. Another noteworthy point about SummerSlam 1992 is that it's the only major PPV to take place in England. There have been other England only PPVs taped over there, but this is only one that was shown to the worldwide audience. The crowd was massive at Wembley with a reported 80,355 people. It looks like a legit number unlike some of the WWE numbers that are out there for major shows. When WWE mentions the show they don't mention that it was actually taped before it aired. That kind of thing would never happen for a PPV today. The times have changed.
