8. It Used To Take Place On Wednesday And Thursday
The first four Survivor Series PPVs from 1987 to 1990 took place on the Thursday night of American Thanksgiving. It was WWE's way of providing wrestling fans with something to watch that night with their families. Since American football was on during the day, WWE figured they could capitalize on that by putting on a night event for the whole family to watch. From 1991 to 1994, it was held on Thanksgiving Eve, which meant it was a Wednesday night PPV. It was always difficult for kids to stay up until 11pm on a school night, but it was like that on Sundays anyway. By 1995, Survivor Series moved to Sunday nights. That was also the year they started doing In Your House PPVs in order to give every month at least one PPV event, so they likely moved Survivor Series just to keep things consistent. It still takes place around Thanksgiving. It's just that it's on the Sunday before or after the American holiday. There are adult WWE fans today that likely have no idea that this was a mid-week PPV for many years. It's not something WWE ever really mentions anymore, nor is it likely they would ever do it again although they did try briefly with the Taboo Tuesday concept.
