10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About 2020
2. It Hasn't Been "Business As Usual"
WWE have brave-faced much of 2020. When the world went into panic mode, they retreated to the in-house Performance Center and tried to make the best of things. Once it became clear that the PC was too restrictive, they created the ThunderDome and have since traded Orlando's Amway Center for St. Petersburg's Tropicana Field.
Each move has helped the televised product, no doubt, but one cannot shake the feeling that this just isn't normal. How could it be? Pro wrestling, WWE included, relies on fan ambience and the excitement of a live crowd to make it work. Things have always been that away, and it's been jarring to see so many major moments play out in front of nobody/LED screens.
Take Drew McIntyre's WWE Title win at WrestleMania, for example.
What should've been a Royal Rumble-topping moment for the Scot turned into an eerie night. He didn't even get to celebrate properly before taping another title bout against Big Show for Raw's broadcast the next evening. It has all been so...weird, and not in a good way.
