Confession time: This writer, as you may have noticed during the XFL entry, is a massive American football fan. That might be why he got rather caught up in the Rob Gronkowski hype when WWE announced that ex-Patriot 'Gronk' would become a feature player in March. In fact, screw it, yours truly went nuts with the positivity.

Oops.

In reality, 'Gronk Mania' was the worst dropped ball of the tight end's entire career. It was a curious distraction for the man, nothing more, and yet it was presented as a full-time gig that'd see Rob kiss goodbye to NFL life to become a WWE superstar. So much for that - he lasted less than three months.

Gronkowski couldn't resist the lure of linking up with former New England teammate Tom Brady again in new stomping ground Tampa Bay. So, he told WWE he was through with wrestling and wanted to go back to pro football with the Buccaneers. That was very much that, and it must've made WWE feel like chumps.
