10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Brian Kendrick

8. TNA

Brian Kendrick was released from his WWE contract on July 30th, 2009. Like many WWE castoffs, his options were Japan, the indies, the convention circuit, leave the business or resurface in TNA. Kendrick did many of the above, working for numerous indie companies and New Japan Pro Wrestling before finding his way to TNA. But Kendrick's TNA run between 2010-2012 wasn't his first with the company. He actually had a match for TNA in November 2004 when he was between jobs with WWE. He wrestled Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne), Frankie Kazarian and The Amazing Red in a four way match on Impact. His second TNA tenure would be a lot more memorable than the first. Instead of wrestling as the Brian Kendrick that fans were used to, he completely reinvented himself with a new gimmick and ring style. He also changed up his look and ditched the trunks for baggy pants and Roman footwear. The new gimmick was divisive and many fans didn't get it. Kendrick originally wanted to come in and play a Kurt Cobain-esque character, an artist, whose valet starts to take advantage of him ala Courtney Love.
