'Idol' Stevens was eventually released by WWE, but within three years he would be back on the books of the largest professional wrestling company in the world. Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) was the developmental territory in use at the time, and Stevens was assigned there.

Before getting back to FCW Stevens was packaged as the 'Maharaja of the Menage-A-Trois', accompanied to the ring by Beth Phoenix and Shelly Martinez of all people. Upon heading to FCW this gimmick was dropped, and 'Colonel' Damien Sandow was born.

The Colonel was something of a right-wing militant, and would actually experience a decent amount of success in the tag ranks. The right-wing colonel would win the FCW Tag Team Championships with Titus O'Neill of all people. Sandow wore a beret, which might be all you need to know.

Luckily, this gimmick was dropped in favour of the Intellectual Saviour of the Masses personality we would get to know on WWE TV.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
