10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Damien Sandow

4. He's The Only Real Money In The Bank Failure

Damien Sandow is one of only two men to fail to win a world championship when cashing-in their Money in the Bank briefcase. John Cena may have been the first, but being Cena he only failed due to the bothersome interference of others. Sandow? Well, Damien Sandow was the first (and to date only) briefcase winner to cleanly lose his cash-in attempt.

After Sandow was defeated by Cena on the October 28th episode of Monday Night RAW, many speculated the damage it may do to his career. Some, myself included, were eternal optimists and strove to find ways that Sandow had come out of the battle looking better. In hindsight, this was ridiculous. By failing to defeat an already injured Cena, Sandow looked utterly toothless.

WWE may have learned its lesson with regards to future failed-cash-ins, but Damien Sandow will forever be a beacon of failure for WWE creative in this regard.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
