A few years ago, all but the most powerful WWE stars lived in fear that they might be released onto an indy scene that was unpredictable. WCW and ECW were gone, and TNA (once a viable alternative to make money) started to drop in stature years ago. That meant it was pretty much WWE or bust for most.

That landscape has changed.

In 2019, there's AEW on the horizon, the chance to make money in Japan and other groups like ROH to plunder. It's an exciting time to be a pro wrestler, and it's why those disgruntled by WWE life finally have another choice. Dean Ambrose, realising this, decided to back himself and leave the cosy bosom of World Wrestling Entertainment behind.

It might not be popular to admit internally, but Ambrose left WWE on his own terms. The Twitter account and teaser video he's just launched as Jon Moxley both have people talking, and the vid revealed that he plans to re-embrace old habits. Moxley, to his credit, wants to do his own thing.
