10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Dusty Rhodes

8. Created Many Unique Concepts WWE Were Jealous Of

It's common knowledge that Dusty Rhodes had one of the most creative and brilliant minds in all of pro wrestling. Viewing the industry very much as a fantasy land, the man repeatedly stated during numerous interviews that he used to find it hard to sleep at night, because he was too busy envisioning different matches he could create or characters that could light up the wrestling world. That's a fantastic thought, and it paid dividends for Rhodes on more than one occasion. There's a simple reason why WWE haven't yet promoted a War Games match, for example, it's because Vince McMahon wishes he had been the one to come up with something so brilliant. Pro wrestling, at the very core of it, is all about competition, and that's something Rhodes understood perfectly, and exactly why the War Games was such a successful idea. Amongst the mans other concepts were the likes of the Battle Bowl and the Lethal Lottery, and even though they weren't always as successful as War Games, as least they were original. In addition, so common was it for Dusty to book the end of a match as a babyface victory, only for it to be overturned in favour of the heel, that the spot became known as the 'Dusty Finish'. Eddie Graham was also involved in that one, but Rhodes used it with such regularity during his spell as booker that it became synonymous with him.
